Accessing Destiny and Inheritance (Honour is a Key)

I’m inspired to write this week’s Blog post based on Pastor Tom Inglis’s message, which he shared at Faith Legacy Believers Church this weekend.

“Are you ready to witness a transformation that will attract countless souls to the church? A time is coming when our churches will overflow with people eager to experience the presence of God. Imagine a church so profound that we struggle to find enough seats for everyone. This is the vision of a future church—a vibrant, growing community filled with the power of God. We must prepare ourselves for this incredible move of God and be excited about the position we hold right now. We are already in Christ, ready to receive and mentor those who come to the Lord. This monumental change is coming, something we’ve never seen before.” – Pastor Tom Inglis.

The Call to Access Destiny and Inheritance

I want to remind you about accessing your destiny and inheritance. The Book of Romans is Paul’s masterpiece, with Chapter 8 being its pinnacle. Let’s delve into this chapter and uncover truths that will help us understand our calling and the provisions God has already set for us.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. God’s Everlasting Love What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” – Romans 8:28-31 (NKJV)

Knowing God Is For Us

How do we know that God is for us? This confidence comes from understanding that every action mentioned in this scripture—foreknew, predestined, called, justified, glorified—is in the past tense. God has already accomplished these things. Therefore, we can confidently declare, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Everything God has called you to do, He has already provided for.

The Uniqueness of God’s Creation

God foreknew us before time began. He has always known everything about us. God’s love for us isn’t based on our current situation but is eternal and unchanging. He created each of us as a unique, one-off production, never to be replicated. This uniqueness means we are a new experience to God, and He delights in our individuality. When we are born, this is the first time He experiences us.

Predestined for Greatness

God predestined our lives before we were born. Philippians 1:6 tells us that God goes to the end of our lives and then rewinds, inviting us to join Him on the journey He has ordained.

“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” Philippians 1:6

Every battle we face is one God has already prepared for us to win. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God knows His thoughts toward us—thoughts of peace and not evil—to give us a future and hope. Our focus should be aligning ourselves with God’s peace in the present, ensuring our future unfolds according to His plan.

Called by Name

God has called each of us by name, shouting it out in eternity past. This calling is a general invitation and a personal and powerful declaration of our destiny. God knows us and the heavenly host, destined to fulfil the plans He has for us.

The Subtle Sin of Dishonour

Despite knowing these truths, many believers struggle through life, walking in victory and fulfilling destiny. One key reason is the subtle sin of dishonour. Dishonour blocks access to our destiny. It can manifest in various ways—dishonouring God, His word, worship, our leadership, parents, or the people He places in our lives. Honour, on the other hand, opens doors and grants us access to our inheritance.

The Importance of Honour

Honour is crucial in our walk with God. It affects every aspect of our lives. For example, dishonouring worship can close off access to our destiny. Similarly, dishonouring God’s word in any area, such as fear and unbelief, finances (Tithing), offences, unforgiveness, and not walking in holiness, are only but some examples that can block the blessings He has already given us. We must cultivate a lifestyle of honour to unlock the full potential of the spiritual blessings within us.

Inheritance: Pre-arranged Blessings

An inheritance is a pre-arranged blessing released at specific times of maturity. Galatians 4:1-2 explains that as long as an heir is a child, he does not differ from an enslaved person, even though he is master of all. Immaturity can delay the release of our inheritance. Negative thinking, ingratitude, and unforgiveness can prevent us from accessing what God has prepared for us.

“Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father.” Galatians 4:1-2

Embracing Maturity

To receive our inheritance, we must grow and mature in our faith. This involves letting go of dishonour, resentment, and negative attitudes hindering spiritual growth. By embracing a mindset of honour and aligning ourselves with God’s peace, we can fulfil His plans and purposes for our lives.

Conclusion

As we move towards this vision of a thriving, overflowing church, let us commit to growing in maturity and honour. Let’s align ourselves with God’s peace and embrace the unique destiny He has predestined for each of us. By doing so, we will unlock the full potential of our inheritance and see God’s transformative power at work in our lives and communities.

May we all strive to be vessels of honour, ready to receive and release God’s blessings and fulfil the incredible destiny He has set before us. Amen.
