Dream Again: Envision, Embrace, Achieve – A Prophetic Vision for Your Life

What’s Driving You?

In pursuing a meaningful life, we often find ourselves at a crossroads, asking:

Are we driven by Fear or Faith?

Passion or Indifference?

A Job or a Calling?

Living or merely existing?

These questions are pivotal in understanding the difference between simply setting goals and embracing a God-given vision for our lives.

The Loss and Rediscovery of Vision

Have you ever felt a loss of motivation, clarity, or direction? You’re not alone. Many of us reach a point where they have stopped dreaming, losing sight of the vision God has for our lives. But why is it essential to dream again, and what makes a Biblical vision different?

Biblical Vision vs. Goal

Biblical Vision is an overarching, divine guidance for your life. Timeframes or specific tasks do not limit it. Instead, it serves as a roadmap for living according to faith, as Proverbs 29:18 KJV suggests,

“Where there is no vision, the people perish…”

The word Vision refers to “prophetic vision”. In other words, a heavenly glimpse at the plans, purposes and destiny God has for your life.

On the other hand, Goals are specific, time-bound, and often stepping stones towards the larger vision.

God’s Vision in Action: The Story of Abram

“After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” But Abram said, “Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring;  indeed one born in my house is my heir!” And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.”

And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” – Genesis 15:1-6 NKJV

Genesis 15 narrates how God gave Abram a vision, a promise that seemed impossible. Abram’s story teaches us that a vision or destiny from God may appear impossible, contrary, and overwhelming. Yet, it’s about believing and aligning ourselves with what God sees, moving away from limiting environments, people, and thinking.

The Essence of Vision: Believe, Receive, Obey, Move

To fully embrace God’s vision, we must believe, receive, obey, and move toward the vision.

“Believe in the Lord with all your heart, and you shall receive His blessings. Obey His commandments and move toward the vision He has placed in your heart with steadfast faith, for He will direct your paths.” Shaun Smit

The Dream’s Cost

John Maxwell aptly said, “The Dream is free, but the journey will cost you.”

This cost includes time, resources, finances, learning, mentorship and above all seeking God and being led by His Spirit. The critical question is: Are you willing to pay the price for what God has for you?

The Promise of Psalms 37:4-5

“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart… Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”

This passage encourages us to align our desires with God’s will, ensuring that our dreams and aspirations are not just our own but are also divinely inspired. God not only places His plans and purposes in us, but as we learn to align with them, they become our desires and He will draw them out of us.

Beyond What We Can Imagine

Ephesians 3:20 and 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 reveal that God’s plans for us are far beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams. These plans are revealed to us by His Spirit, emphasizing the importance of spiritual discernment in recognizing and pursuing God’s vision.

“However, as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’ — the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.  The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.” – 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NKJV

The Prophetic Picture of Israel: Ezekiel 37:1-4

Ezekiel’s vision of the dry bones is a powerful metaphor for Israel’s restoration and a reminder to see our vision and destiny in the Spirit first, even when circumstances seem contrary. The same keys are true for us as they were for Ezekiel. The first thing you must answer despite your circumstances, situations or apparent limitations, “Do you believe God can breathe life into dead situations? The second key which applies to you as much as it did to Ezekiel, you must begin to speak and release the word of God over your circumstances and situations releasing the Vision, Word and power of God for your life.

Conclusion: The Power of a God-given Vision

Embracing a biblical vision for your life means more than achieving goals; it’s about aligning with a divine purpose that transcends our understanding. It’s a journey of faith, obedience, and constant alignment with God’s will. So, as you reflect on your life’s direction, ask yourself: Are you ready to dream again and embrace God’s vision?

Take some time over this break to prepare your heart for 2024 and ask God to bring Clarity and Wisdom with regard to the things that concern you.

  3. “Do you believe God can breathe life into dead situations?” Ezekiel’s answer has reverberated down through the centuries and we, in the 20th & 21st centuries, have witnessed the fulfilment of that incredible prophecy, concerning Israel, with our own eyes.
The way you highlighted the architecture of that prophecy and explained its significance to our individual circumstances today – the vision followed by the goals along the way, but always tapping into the Holy Spirit – I found was enlightening and very helpful. You challenged us to resurrect and delve beneath the surface of our dreams then tap into where the Holy Spirit is leading. So much to digest and meditate on; thank you Ps Shaun.
