The Early Church, what was it, about them?

Many people want the results of others, yet they seldom explore what it was about those who got what they wanted. A better question is, what did they do differently? The apparent observation of the early Church was that they operated in Power, were bold, and saw supernatural signs, wonders, and miracles. Here we are in 2025, saying we want what they had. Well, are you sure about that? There were things they did that most Western believers won’t do, like ultimately making room for God in every area, completely yielding to His Will and cultivating a devoted life to intimacy with the Holy Spirit; I mean wholly submitted and humble to obey no matter what— pursuing Kingdom culture over our country’s culture, wherever your country is.

“I am, and will you say?” Here are several benchmarks to self – reflect to determine whether you are wholly submitted to God, His Will and His Word. These indicators show that a believer is wholly submitted to the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. These aren’t just outward behaviours but evidence of a heart that is yielded, transformed, and aligned with God’s will:

1. Obedience Over Convenience – John 14:15

2. Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s Leading – Romans 8:14

3. Quick to Repent, Not Just Apologise – Psalm 51:10

4. Consistent Transformation Through the Word – Romans 12:2

5. Evident Fruit of the Spirit – Galatians 5:22-23

6. Faith That Acts, Not Just Talks – James 2:17

7. Peace during Pressure – Isaiah 26:3

8. Love for God’s Presence Over Platform or promotion – Luke 10:42

9. Servant’s Heart and Kingdom Mindset – Mark 10:4510. They Glorify Jesus in Everything – John 16:14

The point I’m making is that we need the help of the Holy Spirit. The early Church was marked by Power, Unity, supernatural boldness, and undeniable transformation. Was the Holy Spirit their secret? It wasn’t just good teaching, structure, or strategy—it was the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This divine empowerment launched everyday believers into extraordinary lives of influence, miracles, and Kingdom impact.

The good news? That same Power is available to you today. Whether you’re just beginning your faith journey or have walked with Jesus for years, the Holy Spirit wants to take you deeper, further, and higher in your relationship with God — and it begins with receiving His fullness. Here are some steps to help you walk in Christ and Power.

1. Have Faith in Jesus Christ (Salvation First) – Acts 2:38

You must be born again—fully surrendered to Jesus Christ. If you haven’t taken this step, pause and invite Him into your life. His gift of salvation opens the door to everything else.

2. Ask God for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit – Luke 11:13

The Holy Spirit is a gift, not a reward. However, more than a gift, He is a person of the Trinity here on earth to help, guide, and empower you. Ask with boldness and faith. “Lord, I desire to be filled with Your Holy Spirit. Baptise me with Your Power and presence.”

3. Believe & Receive by Faith – Galatians 3:14

Don’t strive. Believe. The Holy Spirit responds to faith, not formulas. When you ask, expect to receive.

4. Position Yourself in Prayer, Worship & Surrender -Acts 2:1-4

The early Church received this while worshipping and praying in Unity. You have a part to play in creating an atmosphere of worship, hunger, and expectation—and waiting on Him. This is in your quiet time and when you join any corporate gathering, especially your local Church. Come expectant, come to worship, and strive to maintain Unity!

5. Open Your Mouth in Faith & Speak – Acts 10:44-46

When the Spirit moves on you, respond by faith. Speak out as the Spirit gives you utterance. Don’t fear what it sounds like—just yield. Whether praying in tongues or speaking a prophetic utterance, trust God and step out in faith. Always remain humble and teachable so your elders and leaders can correct or guide you. Your walk with the Holy Spirit will mature and grow. We all start somewhere. No one has it right all the time.

6. Yield to the Holy Spirit Daily – Ephesians 5:18

Being filled is not a one-time encounter. Walk with the Spirit daily, praying, listening, and obeying His leading. The more intentional your intimate connection to the Holy Spirit, the more you will be filled to the overflow. Both the Fruits and Gifts will be evident.

7. Step Out in Power & Boldness – Acts 1:8

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit isn’t just for you—it’s to impact others. We are the mouth, hands, and feet of Jesus on the earth. Expect boldness, spiritual gifts, and a supernatural edge in everything you do.It matters not whether you are at Church on a Sunday, in your daily vocation, or a social setting; the Holy Spirit always wants to work through you.

Final Prayer to Receive the Holy Spirit

“Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I believe Jesus is my Lord and Saviour, and I desire to be baptised in Your Spirit. I ask You now, in faith, to fill me with Your presence, Power, and boldness. I receive Your overshadowing Power through Your Spirit right now, by faith, in Jesus’ name. Amen!”So, What’s Next? Receiving the Holy Spirit is just the beginning. Now, you get to walk in Power, grow in spiritual gifts, and be a witness to this generation. If this stirred something in you, you’re not alone—and you’re not meant to walk this journey alone either. Decide to live empowered and filled continuously. This is your moment. Press in, don’t loose heart! Stay in fellowship with Holy Spirit, your Local Church and watch what the Lord will do through you.”

Amen!
