The Secret Place: Is your Spirit longing for the Secret place of God?

This edition of our blog has been inspired by the recent message that Ps Katherine Ruonala ministered at Faith Legacy Believers Church this past Sunday.

In the fast-paced rhythm of life, amidst the demands and challenges, have you ever felt the longing of your spirit to be in the secret place with God? Perhaps you’ve sensed an invitation from the Spirit of God to go deeper, to ascend into a realm of peace and joy that transcends the ordinary.

The Scriptures engage us to lift our eyes on high and recognise the Creator of all things, who calls each element by name with unwavering might and understanding. Isaiah 40:26-31 assures us that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, mount up with wings like eagles, and walk without growing weary.

“Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:2631 NKJV

There’s a profound truth in the connection between our spirit and the secret place. “Deep calls out to deep” (Psalm 42:7), reflecting the intimate communication between God’s Spirit and ours. The secret place becomes a sanctuary where we can make our requests known to the Lord and experience a refreshing that transcends life’s challenges.

Consider the transformative power of praise. A shift occurs when we lift our eyes to focus on God and offer Him genuine praise. It’s a divine exchange where God raises us “out of ourselves” and into Him, providing a fresh perspective and a supernatural rest. Nature itself becomes a testimony to God’s glory, a reminder of the beauty of creation that leads us into a tranquil connection with our Creator.

Have you identified your secret place?

It might be a secluded natural spot, a quiet room, or even an open road. Recently, I went for a motorcycle ride, and amidst the wind and fresh air, I found a profound connection with God. Just me and God, the open road and my spirit alert and attentive to what the Spirit of God would say to me. I rode and prayed in the spirit, which left me feeling like I was on a journey to a different world, where my spirit was deeply intertwined with His.

This secret place is not just a physical location; it’s a realm where gratitude and praise abound.

In everything, give thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:18), for it’s in the act of thanking God, even during challenges, that a supernatural rest begins.

“in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

I Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV

It’s a realm where waiting on the Lord leads to a renewal of strength and a guarding of our hearts and minds with peace (Isaiah 40:31, Philippians 4:6-7).

The busyness of life can often hinder our perspective.

Are you too occupied to wait on the Lord? God desires to give you a supernatural faith and fresh perspective concerning His will, His purposes, and your circumstances. Tactical strategies are embedded in Scripture to combat life’s circumstances – rejoice always, be anxious for nothing, and let your requests be known to God with thanksgiving.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;”

Philippians 4:46 NKJV

Neuroscience tells us that worry and thanks cannot coexist in our minds. When we put on the garment of praise, the spirit of heaviness dissipates, and rejoicing becomes the gateway to ascension because it’s how we are encouraged to enter that secret place.

Is your spirit longing for the secret place?

Is God showing you that there is room for more, a desire for greater intimacy in your life? Embrace the journey into the secret place, for it is there that you will find a depth of peace, joy, and divine perspective beyond measure.

May the Lord cause a fresh breath, cause you to rise up to a new level and see things from His perspective. Remember, God wants to bring you up to a place where you can see you are encircled by His promises which are yes and amen.
